Khenpo Dorje Gyaltshen was born in Markham in 13th January 1973. He enters monkhood at the age of 11 years in one of the 9 Markham Monastery of Sakya Drolma Phodrang. He was ordained as a novice monk in 1991 at Sakya Monastery by the Abbot, Khenpo Lodro and received Lam Dre Teaching from the late Loga Rinpoche. He studied and mastered the ritual aspect of the monastic training from 11 – 22 years old at Markham
In 1993 he travelled to India and stayed at the Sakya Centre in Rajpur to continue his ritual activities especially the Vajrakilaya ritual for the next 5 years. He then entered the Puruwala Institute to study the Buddhadharma for 9 years and sent to Kalimpong as Khenpo. After graduation he became the Khenpo of Kalimpong and was sent by His Holiness here to take charge of our Centre now. In addition to all the daily spiritual activities, Khenpo-la is also capable to check for auspicious astrological dates and do MO prediction.
Khenpo-la is a keen teacher of the Buddha dharma and has indicated that his main objective is to spread the dharma to all in our Centre and will gladly share with us in all the dharma activities.
We encourage all visitors of Khenpo-la not to visit him at his private room but to see him at the main hall at appropriate time.
Khenpola will be here for 6 months thereafter he is needed back in Kalimpong. Let’s give our warmest welcome to Khenpo Dorjee Gyaltsen and we wish Khenpola a happy stay in our Centre during his 6 months with us.
