Acharya Lama Jamyang Lekshey was born in Tibet in 1953. He took ordination in the Sakya Order of Tibetan Buddhism in Varanasi India, when he was eight years old.
The Acharya resided in Sakya Centre Rajpur, and on reaching the age of 19, he was sent by His Holiness to Sakya College to study and join in as the 1st batch of 7 students of the College. He then studied for 11 years under the tutelage of the most Venerable Khenchen Appey Rinpoche, the founder of the College.
After graduation, he was posted to The Singapore Buddha Sasana Society, Sakya Tenphel Ling Centre as one of the resident monk from 1984 to1989.
He was recalled by His Holiness to take up the post of Director at The Sakya Centre in Rajpur India (the main Centre for Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism) and had been looking after the Centre since then.
Presently, Acharya Lama Jamyang Lekshe is not only the Director of the Sakya Centre, but also the Director of the Sakya Nunnery in nearby Dekyiling and oversees the running of Sakya Institute.
The Acharya is an experience administrator, as well as an excellent teacher in the Buddhadharma. Having a high proficiency in English, he conducted Teaching tour like those in 2004 to Australia and set up Dharma Centres in Spain, UK, USA and the Czech Republic.
This will be a rare occasion to listen to The Acharya’s teachings in English for this series!
