(15-Feb to 26-Feb 2012)
Looking at the myriad of phenomena that appear in front of us and engaging them with the eight worldly concerns and the three poisons, lead us to a life of sufferings of birth, sickness, old age and death.
Liberation from sufferings cannot be sought from this world of existence. We need to look inwardly within ourselves. All physical activities, good or bad are guarded by our intention and mental habits. We need to change this mental disposition. Through the practice of mind training and calm-abiding meditation, our mind can be purified and all distracted thoughts will be transformed into the path to enlightenment. Thus our negative mental habit will change to good, and so are our worldly physical actions and verbal behavior. Clearing all these negative aspect, our practice of the Buddha Dharma will be smooth and effective.
Dr. Ngawang Jorden who is the Principal of IBA will conduct the Teaching on “Parting from the 4 Clinging” in which our founder Lineage Guru Sachen Kunga Nyingpo received it directly from Manjushri in His pure vision. These 4 verses contained the essence of all the Teachings in the Mahayana and is a very important mind training teaching of the Sakyapa Tradition. Dr. Jorden will present it in a simple and thorough manner so that all students attending can grasp the gist and the profundity at the end of the Teaching.
The Blue Flower Meditation is Shamatha Mediation, and is basically a continuation from the fourth parting. After turning our mind to the Path of the Buddha Dharma, we seek to develop a disciplined mind. For this we need to change our present mental disposition which is in the state of distraction and confusion. The practice of the Blue Flower Meditation in the Lam Dre Tradition by Virupa will lead us to attaining a state of calm abiding. This one-pointed concentration meditation will free us from distracted thoughts and render our mind a suitable vessel for insight meditation of the Buddha Dharma, a path which we will embrace till we attain the enlightened state.
The Shamatha Meditation is very essential for all beginners and practitioners of the Buddha Dharma. Recognizing this, Our Centre will start a weekly class on Shamatha Meditation after this Teaching. Khentul Rinpoche will be conducting these weekly classes.
